The adjustments are in decreasing the size of the fish image to better accomodate the alternating leaf motif. According to Perchyshyn and Luciow's notes on the design, "Light Green symbolizes the breaking of shackles and freedom from bondage." Fish are an early symbol for Christianity and plants denote the rebirth of nature and the cycle of life. Red, which dominates this egg far more than light green does, represents happiness, hope, passion, blood, fire, and ministry of the church.
