40 Days of Pysanky 31-6: Preview

An error in packing has not allowed me to post information for these individual pysanky before Easter! However, these are all folk pysanky and I can provide some information. Starting with the purple pysanka at 6:00, this pysanka is featured in Ferenchuk's collection of Bukovynian pysanky. The rest are from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka and are (to the best of my recollection), starting from 8:00: Transcarpathia, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Rivne. When I return home I'll make individual posts for these.

This chicken-egg pysanka is a modification of "Shower of Flowers," a goose pysanka featured in Lorrie Popow's Patterns for Ukrainian-Style Easter Eggs.

40 Days of Pysanky 28: Six Roses

This is a replica of a pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 33, No. 29), from Kyiv Province. The first lines were in gold on this pysanka, and the final color is etched back to white.

This is a replica of a pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 38, No. 28), from Kherson Province, in the south of Ukraine.

40 Days of Pysanky 26: Red Sun

This is a replica of a pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 38, No. 25), from Temriuk, Kuban’, Russia. This region is just past Crimea on Taman Peninsula.

This is a replica of a pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 32, No. 21), from Zhytomyr Province. This design is a further enumeration on the Sorokoklyn or "40 Wedges" division.

This is a replica of a pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 37, No. 31). This design is from Sloboda Annyna, Kharkiv province, the far eastern edge of Ukraine.
