It is said that as long as pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) are being made somewhere in the world, the balance between good and evil is maintained. This blog is a record of my own contributions to saving the world from evil.

Sunshine (in All Cardinal Directions)
This is a near-replica of a folk pysanka from Kosmach featured in Elyjiw's Sixty Score of Easter Eggs (Table 72, No. 16). I slightly modified the motif encircling the suns.

Hutsul Pysanka with Crosses
This is a modification of a Hutsul pysanka featured in Elyjiw's Sixty Score of Easter Eggs (Table 41, No. 11). The biggest change is the small bands across the front of the pysanka, in which I replaced the original cross-hatched regions with the white boarder with crosses to better complement the large vertical band.

Columbine
My own design based on a variant of the saddlebags divsiion. Accidentally filled some petals in light green, but am not sure it was a bad thing. Might have to redo this design and alternate the color choices.

| The pysanky my family completed this Easter. Most of these will get covered in greater detail on the blog. |

| A pysanka based on a design by Helen Badulak written by my mom on a duck egg. |
![]() |
| A near replica of a pysanka by Helen Badulak that I wrote on a duck egg. I changed the squares in the two horizontal bands that run parallel to the main band. |
