40 Days of Pysanky 7: Little Spiders

This pysanka is a replica of a folk pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 22, No. 24), from Ternopil Province. It's named "Pavuchy," or "Little Spiders."

40 Days of Pysanky 6: Along the Dnipro

This is an earlier version of this pysanka where I used yellow before pink in order to match the colors better. I wasn't able to get a very good contrast between the lighter and darker pinks -- however, I think I still prefer this color scheme to the one with the pastel pink above.

This is a replica of a folk pysanka from central Ukraine featured in Zenon Elyjiw's Sixty Score of Easter Eggs (Table 47, No. 16).

40 Days of Pysanky 5: Sunny Quilt

I've used this division before for an entirely different effect (Swallowing the Sun) but here am actually trying to get this "wedding ring" quilt pattern to look like a quilt! This art egg was created for the friend who owns the quilt and the memories associated with it.

40 Days of Pysanky 4: Amaryllis

This is an original design -- probably something more of an experiment than usual. I don't know how I feel about it yet. I think it has a lot of potential but needs a lot of work.

This folk pysanka is from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 37, No. 29), from Ostroverkhivka, Hotvald region, Kharkiv province.

40 Days of Pysanky 2: Winter Promenade

This design was inspired by a folk design by Taras Horodetsky which used the repeating stag and bird motif. I've changed the color scheme and all the other motifs.

40 Days of Pysanky 1: Creeping Vine

This original design is starting off my Lenten project of trying to write a pysanka every day. The posts will appear to be a day off since I'll be posting the pysanka from the previous day. I hope you'll enjoy following me to Easter!
