It is said that as long as pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) are being made somewhere in the world, the balance between good and evil is maintained. This blog is a record of my own contributions to saving the world from evil.

The Running of the Deer
This is a near-replica of a diasporan design from a UGS postcard.
On this pysanka:
Deer: prosperity, endurance
Cross: four cardinal directions / the Crucifixion
St. Andrew's Cross (X): patron saint of Ukraine
Cross-hatching: suggestive of plowed fields
Ladders: overcoming small obstacles, prayer
Rams horns (paired spirals): creativity, leadership, prosperity
Sun: life force / God's love
Spirals (singles): powerful sign against evil
Final color, red: fire, passion, action, hope
