Swallowing the Sun (Turkey Egg)

My own design that I've been developing and modifying for a while (see also the goose egg Bountiful Harvest (iteration 2) and chicken egg Wheat with Swallows (iteration 3)).

On this pysanka:
Flower/flower petals: good will and charity
Swallow: the coming of spring
Triangles: trinity
Diamonds: knowledge
Eight-pointed star: sun symbol, source of life
Spiders (could also be suns): patience

Final color blue: truth, good health, and fidelity

Design References

Some of my posts make references to "UGS" catalogues and books. These are publications of Ukrainian Gift Shop, Inc. To date, they have compiled five books of egg designs. I try to acknowledge them or Luba Perchyshyn (whose designs predominate the books) when I use their designs.

Two additional books sold by UGS and associated with their shop are Eggs Beautiful: How to Make Ukrainian Easter Eggs by Johanna Luciow, Ann Kmit, and Loretta Luciow (1975); and Ukrainian Easter Eggs and How We Make Them by Anne Kmit, Loretta Luciow, Johanna Luciow, and Luba Perchyshyn (1979).

I am lucky to own Zenon Elyjiw's Sixty Score of Easter Eggs: A Comprehensible Album of Ukrainian Easter Eggs (1994). The artists whose eggs are featured in this compilation go unnamed, so I will just cite the book when I use designs from this source.

I also use designs and get inspiration from other pysanky artists, and I will credit them when necessary.
