It is said that as long as pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) are being made somewhere in the world, the balance between good and evil is maintained. This blog is a record of my own contributions to saving the world from evil.

Forty-Eight Days of Lent
This is a traditional "Forty-eight Days of Lent" design from Luciow and Kmit's Eggs Beautiful.
The division is called "Forty-eight Days of Lent," because it is, well, divided into forty-eight triangles, and since Christian times has come to represent the forty-eight days of Great Lent, as celebrated by the Eastern Christian church. I haven't been able to find any information on the significance of the division in pre-Christian Ukraine despite the division's ancient roots. According to Luciow and Kmit, pre-Christian triangles may represent many kinds of trinities: air, fire, and water; the sun, thunder, and bonfire; or the family - father, mother and child.
See the step-by-step process of making this egg!
