Deer

UGS Design Book 3, Egg #21
This is masculine egg with some good pagan undertones.  Deer (stags) represent wealth, prosperity, and leadership.  I balanced the stag out with a doe on this egg, although the original design had two stags under the tree.  The tree between them is a typical "tree of life" motif seen on many eggs.  The pine needles (on the tree) can represent health, stamina, and virility.  Fish always suggest Christ, but also can reflect a dedication to higher ideals.  The crosshatched areas could be baskets (knowledge), fishing nets (fishers of men), or sieves (for separating good from evil).  The spirals in the border (as well as alongside the tree) can convey protection.  The orbs that look like suns on the main face of the egg are probably spiders and represent patience.  The ladders (hashmarks in the border design as well as under the tree) can signify upward climbs either in the physical world (wealth or social standing) or in the spiritual world (towards heaven).  The border around the picture of the stags also makes a large "saw" motif (zigzag design) that indicates fire, or life-giving heat.
