40 Days of Pysanky 19: Rays of the Sun

This pysanka was inspired by a design by Luba Perchyshyn, and has borrowed color scheme and the band from that pysanka almost in its entirety. My contribution is multiplying her one stag by four and adding the flower garland. I also enclosed her band in parallel lines, which I wish I hadn't done.

40 Days of Pysanky 18: Flowery Embroidery

This design is adapted from an embroidery pattern featured in Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka for the Kurs'k and Kharkiv Provinces. I have not been able to find additional information on it.

40 Days of Pysanky 17: Ruzha

This is a replica of a folk pysanka from Vira Manko's The Ukrainian Folk Pysanka (Table 37, No. 8) from Kozats'ka Sloboda, Kurs'k region. This is ethnographically the northern Slobozhanshchyna region, now in current day Russia. In 2013, I wrote a version of this design with a different color scheme and some alterations to the motifs.

40 Days of Pysanky 15: Forsythia

This is an original design using the barrel division on a brown egg. The brown lines come entirely from the natural shell of the egg (the lighter brown from etching just a little bit). I then dyed the egg yellow, wrote those lines, and etched the egg entirely to white.
