Poppies and Wheat (Duck Egg)

My own design. Shown are alternative views of the same pysanka.

This combination is common. Poppies are the national flower of the Ukraine and wheat is a major crop (Ukraine was often referred to as the breadbasket of Europe).

"Bezkonechnyk" - Eternity Egg

My own variation on a type of pysanka represented in Elyjiw's Sixty Score of Easter Eggs. This is a folk pysanka whose name means "an ornament without an end" and is really just a giant, continuous meander.

Elyjiw writes, "Beeekeepers in Ukraine used to place Easter eggs with bezkonechnyk under beehives in the apiary so that their bees may swarm "without end."
